What policy will protect UK media plurality?

Conference set to respond to Jeremy Hunt's fifteen day consultation deadline

At very short notice to meet the government’s consultation deadline, Politeia is organising a conference to discuss the issues raised by the Culture Secretary’s approval of News Corporation’s bid to take over BSkyB. The aim is to consider the issues raised by the decision and the best policy for a free, flourishing, independent and competing press in the UK.

Members of the panel will include:  

  • John Whittingdale, MP, Chairman, Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee
  • Lord Black of Brentwood, Chairman, Press Standards Board of Finance Ltd and Executive Director, Telegraph Media Group Ltd
  • Perry Keller, Senior Lecturer in Law, Kings College London and author of European and International Media Law: Liberal Democracy, Trade and the New Media(Oxford, 2011)
